I Co-Costume designed for this 2023 Production at Rollins College. We, the design team, felt it was important to reflect the style and vision of Zimmerman's script. To do this, we blended both modern and ancient aesthetics and forms. Togas and laurel crowns lived alongside modern suits and dresses. Designing, planning, and constructing this show was and is very challenging due to Zimmerman's instructions that there must be a real pool of water onstage that the actors perform in. Almost every costume needed to be able to not only get wet, but be completely soaked and then dry quickly for the next show. This meant that we needed to choose our materials carefully. There are also many costume changes, due to each actor playing multiple roles. This challenge led me and the other designers to stretch our creative problem solving skills. During the process, I personally constructed several complex pieces including wings made of thin packing foam and fabric, togas draped on the form, and multiple complex headpieces/crowns. Below are my original renderings and photos (taken by Tony Firriolo) from the performance of the show.
